Inauguration of the National Open Art Children's Exhibitions

1st National Open Art Childrens' Exhibition | 5 - 16 December 2017

National Open Art, the UK’s leading independent open art prize, presents its first, full-scale Children’s Exhibition, a beautiful collection of 150 artworks by the UK and Ireland’s most promising young artists. Selected by the award-winning children’s books illustrator Marta Altés and NOA, this stunning collection of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and wall-hung installations by artists aged 14 and under will delight and inspire. Includes the three Children’s Competition prize-winners and seven highly-commended artworks, which were exhibited as part of the 21st National Open Art Exhibition at the Oxo Tower Wharf’s Bargehouse on London’s Southbank in November.

"Children are often very creative by nature and there are some incredibly talented young artists out there. Anything that encourages and develops this talent is something to be celebrated, and NOA's competition provides one of the very best opportunities around."

- Chris Riddell, UK Children’s Laureate and previous NOA Children's Competition judge

We founded the National Open Art Children’s Competition to nurture and encourage children and young people of all ages and capabilities to engage in the arts. Children are a hugely important part of National Open Art and we’re passionate about celebrating their talent, enthusiasm, and potential.  We care about the benefits creativity can have for children’s development and well-being and, ultimately, we want to help inspire the next generation of artists and creatives, so this is a very special exhibition for us and we look forward to inviting you to see some of the brightest children and young people's works from across the UK and Ireland, all under one roof!
